The 'Friends' is a voluntary organisation of people who are concerned about the Seafront Gardens in Felixstowe, and supporters of the successful Heritage Lottery Bid for £2.2 million funding to do work which has long been needed and to make the Gardens more suitable for the twenty-first century. The organisation was officially established on 19th May 2009.

Felixstowe Seafront Gardens were awarded the £2.2million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) on 11th July 2011. A press release relating to the grant can be found using the following link http://www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/news/seafrontgardens11July2011.htm

The next phase will see the recently appointed Mott MacDonald design team take the scheme to completion, work on site is scheduled to start in February 2013 and should take approximately a year to complete.
